New interview with Jami of Code Orange just hit the site. We discuss “I Am King”, the history of the band, Pro Wrestling, and much more. Check it out and share it around!
Just would like to thank everyone that continues to support the label end of this project. I know cassettes aren’t for everyone, so to get any support whatsoever is greatly appreciated. Vinyl releases will happen at some point down the line, but not for the foreseeable future.
PS, just sent out an email to one of my favorite metal bands of 2014 about releasing the full length on cassette format. Keep an eye out for news on that if anything comes of it. One of the gnarliest sludge/metal albums I have heard in 2014.
Last Thursday, Tom Malenski, a well-loved and long time fixture in the Baltimore punk scene, was senselessly murdered after a show in the city.
Malenski, an employee of the bar in the 2500 block of N. Howard St., was attending a concert on his night off when he helped a co-worker break up a fight and removed a patron, according to police and the bar’s owner. As he led the patron from the bar, Malenski was attacked by Heath, police said. According to charging documents, Malenski was stabbed in the neck. The other victim, a 33-year-old bar employee, suffered a laceration to his face.
Police said Malenski died at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center at 2:28 a.m. Friday.
Tom was a incredibly warm and welcoming face in what can be a very cold city, and his death is a huge loss to the community. Tom’s family is collecting donations for medical and funeral expenses. Every little bit helps.
Please donate if you can.
At the end of the day we will always be a project that focuses primarily on the Punk/Hardcore scene. We do our best to stay away from TMZ style posts because they’re tasteless and I’d rather not waste my time covering bullshit for the sake of traffic. If you don’t like that, maybe following our blog and our social media accounts isn’t the best choice of your life.
5+ years of spreading the word about rad music, not going to change anytime soon because someone thinks we cover “scene bullshit”.
Actual two cents on this beaten subject.
I wish kids put forth as much effort within their local scene as they have in the past four days over this Joyce Manor shit. The opinion of ONE Indie/Pop Punk/Whatever band has on stage diving isn’t the end of the god damn world. Get over it, move on, and make shows you ACTUALLY wish to attend memorable as can be.
You and your friends logging off social media for four-six hours won’t be the end of the world. Get a carpool of friends/acquaintances together and go support kids trying to get their message/anger out and support spaces trying to keep their fucking doors open.
I’m fat and uncoordinated, I wasn’t trying to dive at Joyce Manor shows to begin with.
